What Did Jesus Mean When He Said He Would Come from the Sky?

All Other Symbolic Prophecies Can Be Unlocked With This Key
Our Lord’s return from the heavens is taken for granted by most Christians. What are the ramifications of this expectation? Is there any chance that people will pay attention to any news with such a strong expectation? Why should they look for Him if they expect their eyes to see Him? Which of the following scenarios do you prefer:

  • Seeing our Lord in the clouds, surrounded by a swarm of angels, or
  • Reading volumes of literal prophesies He has fulfilled, which is time laborious and possibly boring?

Who would choose a Redeemer who is as inconspicuous and concealed as a robber in the night over a Redeemer who is as visible to all eyes as the sun? The option is obvious. How many Christians would recognize texts that contradict their expectations with such a firmly ingrained belief?

Would they remember the exact key that our Lord gave them to demonstrate that “the sky” and “the eyes” are both spiritual? Would people remember that our Lord likewise descended down from “the sky” during His first Advent? Could there be a more powerful way for our Lord to show them than by stating these obviously unbelievable words:

I have come down from sky.

-Christ (John 6:38)

Surely this is Jesus son of Joseph; we know his father and mother.

How can he say, “I have come down from sky?”
-John 6:42

What came down from the sky?

Why would our Lord make such a bold declaration? Have you ever considered this? Please ask your pastors or priests to clarify the situation to you, and let us know what they say.

We don’t know what they’ll say, but God’s distinctive language is something practically all prophecy interpreters overlook. His frequent use of symbolic or spiritual phrases or instances is one of His language’s distinguishing features. This terminology can be seen in several of Jesus’ parables.

To understand what it means to come from the sky, consider the following: What was the true identity of Jesus? Is he the Holy Spirit or just another human being like the rest of us? God, like Jesus, is a Spirit. So, what could possibly fall from the sky? Even as the sun’s light descends to the earth and shines on spotless mirrors, only the Spirit of God is present. Spirit was our Lord’s fundamental essence and identity. That was what took Him from human to divine, and it was something that came from above.

The First and Most Important Domino

If this prophecy, which is at the heart of all other “miraculous predictions,” is spiritual, then the rest must be as well. “Mysterious prophesies” are ones that defy natural rules or amuse and entertain the senses. Will not the literal interpretation of this prophecy, which is the first and most important domino among all other miraculous prophesies, lead the rest of the miraculous dominos to fall on their faces as well? Will they not follow in this one’s footsteps? Isn’t it evident that if this prophecy is shown to be spiritual, then all other “miraculous prophesies” must be spiritual as well?

Didn’t our Lord give us the master key to the meaning of “I shall come from the sky” when He said He arrived from the sky? Why, then, do prophecy interpreters ignore this most crucial key?

You may read a hundred books on prophecies and still miss this master key, which unlocks the meaning of all miracle prophecies. Why do the officials in charge of prophecy alter the rules? Why do they ignore our Lord’s use of symbolic language so frequently?

This Key’s Importance in Unlocking All Miraculous Prophecies Should Not Be Underestimated

Please do not undervalue the importance of this key. If we can use this key to unlock the hearts of Christians, they will be able to recognize and perceive God’s glory in our Lord in His second Advent as easily as they see the sun rising on a clear day. Their trust and love for our Lord will soar to new heights when they see the divine in Him not once, but twice.

All other miraculous prophesies are illuminated by understanding the genuine meaning of “I shall come from the sky.” It demonstrates that they are all spoken in a spiritual language.

This Master Key to the mystery of Jesus’ return was given to us by Jesus. Should we disregard His key and come up with our own? To unlock the symbolic predictions, most prophecy interpreters have employed their own literal, man-made key. Their key simply doesn’t fit and isn’t functional. That is why there are so many “Schools of Prophecy.” Each of them uses eight distinct physical keys to try to open spiritual prophecy. They’re known by a variety of names, including:

  1. Premillennial Pretribulational
  2. Premillennial Posttribulational
  3. Premillennial Midtribulational
  4. Prewrath Rapture
  5. Premillennial Partial Rapture
  6. St. Augustine’s Amillennial
  7. Warfield’s Amillennial
  8. Evangelical Postmillennial

The Return of Prophet Elijah From Sky

When we have a question, we can look throughout the Bible for numerous answers. Let us look at the meanings of two key phrases mentioned in predictions once more: Sky and Return. Is it the return of the body from the sky or the return of the spirit from the heavenly sphere? The answer to this riddle can once again be found in the words of our Lord.

Many Christians expect the Prophet Elijah, who had risen to the sky, to return from the sky, just as the Jews expected Elijah to return from the sky. It was predicted that Elijah would return before the coming of our Lord. No one had come down from the heavens, according to the Jews. As a result, they felt justified in questioning Jesus about it. What kind of feedback did they get? Simply put:

John is the destined Elijah…

-Matthew 11:1

How could John the Baptist, who had not descended from heaven, be Elijah’s “return”? Only on a spiritual level. His spirit was the only one who came from above. Is it possible for a literal-minded Jew to comprehend or accept Jesus’ response? What would you think if you were in their shoes? How few spiritual Jews were willing to embrace Jesus’ spiritual interpretation of a prophecy that they took literally! Do you think you’d be one of them?

Shouldn’t Jesus’ explanation of the spiritual fulfillment of this prophesy save us from the perils of literal thinking? Isn’t the spiritual fulfillment of this “miracle prophecy” yet additional proof that God frequently communicates in spiritual, rather than literal, language?

Consider the following comparison to understand what “spiritual return” means. A spiritual mind can view Elijah’s spirit as a Rose that bloomed decades before John arrived, displaying its beauty and magnificence. That same Rose, with the same beauty and majesty, resurfaced in another Rose named John. The crucial question is: What distinguishes a rose from other flowers? What distinguishes a rose from other flowers? To figure out the answer, consider how two believers, one spiritual and the other literal, would evaluate a rose. A literal-minded believer will be unable to recognize a spiritual Rose. The only thing that comes to him when he thinks of a rose is its original elements and name. Even though the literal-minded Jews were face to face with Jesus—the Heavenly Rose—who was far greater than Elijah or John—they were unable to see His grandeur, heavenly beauty, and splendor. Spiritual Jews, like Peter, recognized Jesus for who he was, just as we identify a rose for what it is.

The spiritual fulfillment of a prophecy that the Jews seek physical fulfillment exposes the deadly perils of literal thinking once again. The inability of Jesus to literally fulfill this prophecy is enough for a narrow-minded Jew to reject Him. Shouldn’t we pay attention to the important teachings that the Bible gives us? Not only does Elijah’s example teach us the spiritual meaning of “sky,” but it also teaches us the spiritual meaning of “return.”
