Spiritual Poverty

Most people are afraid of losing money and falling into poverty, but they are not afraid of falling into spiritual poverty. In this day and age, the number of people who are spiritually impoverished is increasing at an alarming rate. What is the most evident sign of poverty? It’s having everything money can buy and still being unsatisfied. Working harder or adding more toys to one’s life to divert one’s attention away from the stress and pain of daily life, yet still recognizing that something is wrong.

How can such individuals put things right? What is the best way for them to uncover the missing link in their lives? They can only succeed if they find the missing link in their life. How can anyone appreciate the beauty of a rose if they haven’t seen it or scented it? The same can be said about spiritual blossoms. A real lover cannot even get a glimpse of what he has been missing unless he enters God’s rose-garden, discovers the beauty of God’s Image on his soul, and breaths the fragrances of His Word.
Consider the relationship between light and diamond. We cannot perceive the beauty and brilliance of the magnificent diamonds hidden deep within our souls unless we discover them and expose them to the light of God.

The First Step to a Life of Abundance

To teach us the secrets of true pleasure and happiness, Jesus states!

“Seek ye the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.”-Luke 12:31

What did He intend by that? He meant: Discovering the treasures concealed in God’s spiritual kingdom is the first step toward an abundant existence. How are we going to do it? Is there any other option than exposing our soul’s priceless jewels to the light of His knowledge? Everything will fall into place once we accomplish this, He promised, and every joy and pleasure will be added to our lives.

We are spiritual beings, not physical. If our spirit is healthy and vibrant, everything will fall in place, every joy and pleasure will be ours. Trying to satisfy our spiritual needs with physical pleasures is like trying to heal our sick bodies by changing our clothes! How amazing! Many people keep changing their clothes, without noticing any change in their symptoms. Dear one! For heaven’s sake, for a change, once change your attitude, instead of your clothes! Only then, will you witness what God has planned for you? Only then can you witness the beauty of the rose garden and the brilliance of the jewels in your soul. Is there any danger in doing this? What do you have to lose?

What a waste to make the lovely Image in our souls—the most valuable gift—a servant to our perishable bodies, which only serve as clothing for a short time before returning to their source: the ground. What a waste if we spend our days accumulating earthly goods instead of looking for eternal treasures in our souls and the Word of God.
